Halloween is a time of eating those delicious treats by going house to house. However, there are some people who are not in favour of too much sugar during this holiday. The Food and Drug Administration advises kids and adults as well that there are some treats that isn’t healthy.

Liquorice is a very popular candy that most people enjoy even on an ordinary day. Nevertheless, black liquorice has negative effects towards a person’s body, which can cause heart arrhythmias and several health issues. These problems can be caught when adults eat a large amount of black liquorice.

Medical professionals say that 2 ounces of liquorice per day can risk the heart of vulnerable people. The ingredient that causes this kind of heart issues is called glycyrrhizin, which is responsible for the sweetness of the candy.

Glycyrrhizin is the reason why kidneys release potassium. And we are all aware that low levels of potassium aren’t healthy because it changes the rhythm of our heart beat. There also doctors that explain how Glycyrrhizin can lead to preservation of salt and water which can be difficult for individuals with high blood pressure and heart problems.

But, black liquorice isn’t all bad because there are certain provinces that uses this treat for medication.
