The music industry honored a pair of amazing women at Billboard’s Women in Music Event, now in its sixth year of commemorating leading female executives. In addition to celebrating their own, the organizers also awarded a Woman of the Year Award and a Rising Star award. The ever talented, squeaky clean image Taylor Swift nabbed the former, while up and coming talent Nicki Minaj captured the latter.

Country darling Swift is the youngest to ever be honored with the Woman of the Year Award, and at 21, a precocious and perrenial favorite to pick up accolades from the industry. Always humble, the young Swift stated of her fellow winner Minaj that “she’s one of my favorite artists to come along…” underscoring what many have already acknowledged in Minaj. Swift characterizes the recognition as “magical” and notes the incredible experience of the past year allows her to “wear this beautiful dress and go to this wonderful event.”

Since splashing onto the scene in 2006, Swift has been a formidable performer having sold over 20 million albums in that short time frame. With four Grammy awards to prove it, Swift’s talent has been unmatched, leaving her contemporaries in awe as the ever humble sweet fan favorite continues to sell out stadiums across the world, entertaining legions of music fans and critics as she belts out country music at its finest, leaving the audience mesmerized and clamoring for more, wondering how such a youthful soul can captivate them so profoundly.
