Blue Heron Farm

When the Obamas head north to Martha’s Vineyard, their vacation property of choice in the Blue Heron Farm, a secluded property that boasts a main house, a smaller, complementary house and an old Pennsylvania barn that was created over a century and a half ago. Other dignitaries have visited the property over the years, including former President Bill Clinton. Unfortunately for the Obamas, the Blue Heron Farm was recently sold to an English architect, Norman Foster. The transaction, reportedly a $21.9 million deal, whisks away the Blue Heron Farm from the list of Secret Service approved venues, removing from the open market a secluded property that once provided its visitors access to the beach and the country side.

The Blue Heron Farm also provides a riding ring, tennis courts and a basketball court, the latter a favorite of President Obama, a baller in his own right, who spends some afternoons shooting hoops and boxing out underneath the basket in an attempt to win back possession of the ball. The property all boasts numerous gardens and an apple orchard, both a favorite of the first lady Michelle Obama and their two children. Mrs. Obama is an avid nutritionist, maintaining a fresh garden at the White House, insisting on all natural ingredients, encouraging the nation to open their diet to all things fresh and natural. With the Blue Heron Farm now out of the picture, President Obama will have to look elsewhere if he wants to head north to Martha’s Vineyard for some time off. The Secret Service will have some work to do in vetting out the next Presidential vacation spot in Martha’s Vineyard.
