| January 27, 2012

Stephanie Allain, a producer and previous president of Jim Henson Pictures, is the new director of the Los Angeles Film Festival. This news was announced last Wednesday by the board of Film Festival. She begins with her throne immediately as soon as Rebecca Yeldham steps down from her position. She has been a part of the board of directors of Film Independent, which directs and produces the film festival and the spirit awards in four consecutive years. This gives her an ample amount of learning in the movie industry.

Aside from her remarkable resume in the Film Independent industry, she also spent 10 years at Columbia Pictures, waiting for her promotion as a VP production. At Columbia she was involved in producing “Boyz n The Hood.” In addition to the films she supervised include “El Mariachi” and “I like It Like That”.

In 1996-2000 Allain was president of the Jim Henson Pictures where she produced the favorite shows of children like, “Muppets from Space”, “Elmo in Grouchland” and Caroline Thompson’s “Buddy.” In the year 2000 she created another name for her career when she produced “Biker Boys” and “Good Boys”. The list for Allain’s recognition goes on and more projects await her once she has a higher position in the movie industry.
