Gerard Depardieu Airline Spoof

Gerard Depardieu Airline Spoof as Obelix

Gerard Depardieu appears to have reconciled with himself following his notorious act of urinating in the aisle of a CityJet plane. Depardieu was inebriated at the time and evidently couldn’t comply with attendants’ instructions to wait until after the plane was in the air before relieving himself properly. In the lavatory. So he decided to relieve himself in a makeshift trough: the aisle of the plane.

It seems Depardieu subscribes to the old adage that goes something like this: “don’t let a good crisis go to waste,” and so with that in mind, enter the spoof. Depardieu is playing Obelix in an upcoming movie version of the French cartoon Asterix the Gladiator. Obelix is a rather rotund character much like Depardieu who fancies eating wild board. The spoof is made all the more interesting with the presence of Edouard Baer who was traveling with Depardieu on that embarassing day. Mirroring real life, Depardieu’s character rebels when told that he has to wait until after takeoff before he can dine on his favorite swine. This time, however, there is no bodily fluid involved in the disturbance.

Depardieu and Baer both star in Astérix et Obélix: Au Service de Sa Majesté, which is scheduled to hit the big screen in October 2012.
