Point Break and Highlander Remake Makes Buzz

1991’s box office hit Point Break remake starts to make buzz. Alcon Entertainment has recently announced that it will remake the Keanu Reeves-starrer. The movie popularized by Reeves along with Patrick Swayze depicted the story of an LA undercover cop and a bank robber who happens to be his surfing mentor.

Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow directed the original film and a media release stated that the remake of the film will be set in the international extreme sports world. He cast of the said remake has yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, another remake will hit the silver screen soon as 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo will take his version of the 1986 sci-fi hit Highlander. The original film and its several sequels were starred by Christopher Lambert. The much awaited remake is set to be released by Summit Entertainment.

Filming of Highlander remake will begin some time next year and the cast who will topbill the movie has yet to be revealed.

With Hollywood’s current trend of remakes, among the roster of movies to be done are the horror hit The Thing, Total Recall, Top Gun, and the 1980’s dance flick Footloose. If it will succeed just as the original, moviegoers have yet to find out until all of it are released.
